Long Weekend in Emilia Romagna
September 8 - 11, 2021
3 Nights

Trip Description
Massimo Bottura is one of Italy's true culinary ambassadors and his lauded (number one on the World’s 50 Best list—not once, but twice) Osteria Francescana is his gastronomic embassy. You will have seen his ebullient and infectious presence in everything from his charming turn in Stanley Tucci's Searching for Italy to his and our co-host Lara Gilmore's charming turn in Chef's Table. Join us for this long weekend in September to experience not only the restaurant’s tasting menu, but spend multiple meals and moments with Bottura and his team, tasting and learning about the hallmark foods that have made the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna so rich in food culture.
The countryside surrounding the town of Modena, which Bottura calls home, is also the home to a kind of Holy Trinity of central Italian products: the magnificent and never truly replicable umami of Parmigiano-Reggiano, the masterfully raised and cured Prosciutto di Parma, as well as rich and fragrant Aceto Balsamico di Modena. You’ll rove through the region in its greenest, most fertile period by foot, car and bike, visiting the best traditional farms and producers along the way. PRIOR guests will stay in what Bottura refers to as his own 12-acre country house—Casa Maria Luigia—an artfully refurbished, award-winning Italian country estate and model of understated luxury just outside the city.
