TRIP DESCRIPTION
The Great Migration – the annual passage of great herds of thundering wildebeest, zebras and antelopes across East Africa’s grassy plains and croc-filled rivers while being stalked by lions – is the most epically cinematic of all safaris. This journey in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park places guests right in the middle of the action from the stage of a private tented camp. Led by East African ecologist, conservationist and safari industry pioneer, Richard Knocker, whose keep knowledge of each of these landscapes will bring an authentic sense of adventure to the trip, the group will also explore less-touristed terrain, including a lakeside jungle rustling with habituated chimpanzees, a stay at a secluded, sophisticated lodge set among massive stone boulders and acacias in the rugged southern Serengeti, and an excursion to visit the remote Datooga people for an immersion in their traditional lifestyle.
